It's four p.m., Thursday, and we're here at Mystic Journey bookstore in Venice (California) with some of NOW Productions finest -- Richard Price, Arissa Bright, Gene Kaprelian, Keith Malinsky and Chuck Moore -- preparing the space for a unique event to take place, a mini-workshop, Recognizing the Blessings as a Spiritual Warrior for the Rest of Your Life with a star-studded line-up of talent: Drs. Paul Kaye, John Morton, Jsu Garcia and John-Roger!! Wow!
The bookstore's manager, Jeff Segal, seems to be everywhere along with his assistant, Rashan, manifesting whatever we need. This (Bodhi Tree type) store is new to the Abbot Kinney (very trendy) area of Venice, CA, and he and we are delighted to create a buzz this evening. Even as we get chairs in place and the sound and video set, people start coming in to save places.
Zoe Golightly has been diligent for weeks now promoting this event, Tweeting, Facebooking, handing out postcards all over town, and this evening is doing a pre-event meet up gathering that will culminate in the group's coming over to the bookstore. As I look around, I see many familiar faces but also a number of new ones. The buzz increases as all the chairs become occupied and it is soon evident that even standing room will be full in a short time. Some of the old-timers give up their chairs to give the new faces a chance to see and be up close...I'm grateful to them for this service!
One by one our highlighted presenters arrive. I see Paul Kaye make his way around chatting with attendees, then John Morton accompanied by Leigh Taylor-Young threads his way through welcomingly. Faces periodically scan around, eagerly and hopefully looking for John-Roger. Finally with a full house (we're grateful for the breeze that blows through) we see J-R with Jsu in tow, and the fun begins.
Jeff Segal takes the mic and welcomes the group to his store. He introduces one by one the speakers and when he gets to J-R there's an immediate joy-filled standing ovation. We are all so happy that J-R can be with us tonight!

Paul is the designated warm-up act and he lays the groundwork brilliantly weaving the keys of being a Spiritual Warrior in creating and experiencing having "The Rest of Your Life." In five seconds we experience peace and rest in the stillness of observing our breathing.

Then John Morton illustrates how, as Spiritual Warriors, we can start with focus and purpose, having the intention to find the blessing that's present and have gratitude for what we have right here, right now. This purposefulness increases our ability to recognize the blessings and receive of the blessings.
Jsu Garcia brings to us a delicious, light-hearted and humorous look at Spiritual Warriorship as he shares glimpses of his life that encompass everything from acting, producing and marketing the film, Spiritual Warriors, to the more ordinary day to day things like cleaning his room. His divinely comedic expression bursts open such warmth and joy in the group upon which Jsu invites John-Roger to share, and share he does. From the moment J-R stands the energy moves around and through us like ocean waves. Peace, love, joy, spiraling, waving, showering...all this and so much more that there just aren't words for...as J-R and his merry band of fellow presenters continue to take questions and give answers.
We could have gone on for hours but the time does come forward to move to the buying and signing of books and the Spiritual Warriors DVD. As happens whenever two or more of us seem to gather, there is much fun fellowshipping as patiently we stand in line to get our books (The Rest of Your Life, Timeless Wisdoms, Volume 2, Spiritual Warrior ) and Spiritual Warriors DVDs signed -- no better excuse for a moment or two with J-R and John (and of course, Jsu and Paul). The NOW Productions crew caringly pack up around the group, as Jeff, Rashan and their friendly staff happily assist the buyers.

When the last book is signed and many hearts are hugged and touched, J-R and company gently say good night and depart. With the final chair and table back in its original place I check in with Jeff. He expresses what is certainly true for me -- how profoundly grateful he is to have experienced this amazing event and to have his store and all of us blessed by the presence of the Spirit.
