Day two of the Heartfelt Service Workshop at MSIA's Conference of Heartfelt Service started with our service projects out in the world, serving those in need, and extending our hearts and hands in as many ways as possible. The project I participated in was a North Hollywood Convalescent Hospital where my group was well received with great enthusiasm. In fact, when the Activities Director found out we were representing the Church of MSIA, we were immediately invited back monthly. It was explained that the residents of the hospital really are in need of spiritual service.
The fifteen of us toured ourselves through the hospital in good cheer with flowers and cards for everyone. We blessed and sent Light to all present and, upon completion, the very kind Director took photographs of us and we left with full hearts
We returned to the workshop ballroom to share our experiences with the other workshop participants. We shared amongst ourselves and chose a spokesperson to stand up and give the essence of our group’s experience. Each group shared their very valuable service experience.
Next we participated in a giving and receiving experience, sharing a gift with a partner. What followed was a very sacred process as we listened to J-R read the gospel of St John. It was moving and beautiful. Following the sacred exercise, we had sharing with J-R, John, and Michael Hayes until the workshop came to a close.
After the workshop we moved to the lawn for finger food and beverages. As many did, I went to change into my dinner clothes. With great holiday excitement and enthusiasm, we all sat at our assigned tables decorated for our celebration of Christmas in July. It really felt that way the entire time. As the servers in the hotel began serving our beverages, there was a lot of mingling and good cheer spreading through the room. Hearty appetites prepared for a Christmas feast and wonderful entertainment.
Our delightful MC, Dale Kitchell, was on stage making announcements about the evening’s festivities. One announcement was for all the people who would be entertaining to meet outside the room to get their number of what order they would go up on stage. I would be joining this group for the first time ever, singing on my own. It was a beautiful expansion step for me. Singing this past year has served me well in my body, mind, Spirit and Soul.
While I won’t be listing all the names and songs here, I will tell you that we really had 27 awesome heartfelt contributions, that raised the bar on artistic and creative talents, skills, and abilities. The children of our church are the best entertainers.
I love how our family loved and supported everyone. I feel we were all gifted very well by the Travelers this week. I am grateful and proud of us in our service to each other and ourselves. We are truly blessed.
